A lot of people say that Appetite for Destruction is the best thing Guns and Roses ever did. These people are probably correct. However, you are truly doing yourself a disservice if you dismiss the two-headed hydra of Use Your Illusion (Volumes 1 and 2). Indulgent, decadent, completely ridiculous and over the top...of these components, great rock and roll is constructed. Plus there were at least 40 videos that were made from songs on these two albums...how bad could it really be? "You Could Be Mine" starts things off here, and I'll be goddamned if it doesn't make me want to snort a line of coke and smack my supermodel wife right in her cunt mouth. Viva GNR. -J.W.

you could be mine was initially the first single to be released from Use Your Illusion. the year was 1991 and i was eagerly awaiting the release of terminator 2 that summer. the year before my drunken uncle jimmy (you know, that guy thats not really an uncle, he's just a fat asshole that hangs out with your dad and you mom hates)had given me the first terminator fro my eigth birthday. yeah, probably not appropriate, but thats what made him cool. well, i was sitting in front of the television in the guest bedroom when all of a sudden the whole terminator sequence started choreographed to matt sorum's drum fill. the coolest scenens from the movie were interspliced with concert footage and arnie hunting down axl like stephanie seymour's attorney. needless to say, for the next two months, anytime i heard that drum fill, i dropped what i was doing and planted myself no less than 2 inches from the television screen. fuck paula abdul and that stupid cat, this was truly the greatest pairing in music video history.
